French press coffeemaker

The most common brewing methods worldwide are simple percolation, boiled coffee, electric coffee maker, espresso machine, Italian coffee maker and French press.

In Europe, the French press is probably still then most common method of brewing fresh coffee at home.

With the French press, coffee (the bean should be a medium grind) and hot water are mixed together in a special brewer with a plunger that has a mesh.
After allowing the mixture to brew for a few minutes, the plunger is pressed to trap the coffee grounds at the bottom of the beaker and the brew is poured into the cup. The lid has a screen that pushes the grounds to the bottom.

The French press is a fantastic way to brew coffee since it is a fully immersed brew that retains plenty of body in the coffee and is easy to control.
